Mind Map
To justify these ideas i would say that the reason for the Brewery Documentary is due to the experience i have and knowledge of the brewery itself i know where i want to shoot and what i want to shoot to make this Documentary look nice, i think that people will want to watch this documentary as it is local and something that people haven't seen before. Due to the recent rise in popularity in real ale i also think this will help me with audience figures and therefore think that this will be successful. My other idea is on Video games and violence, due to the strong incline in popularity with video games this idea could work really well, having worked on this topic in previous units i am confident with talking about it and finding relative research to go with it. i am also a gamer myself and find myself often playing video games on a daily basis which will help a lot when i come to put this together with good shots and voice overs.

Focus Group
From my Focus group i have found out that my Target audience for this piece will be very niche? They can be from the age 18 and above as the documentary is about a brewery but mainly from the age of 30+ and Male. They will be from any social group as all Males seem to have an interest in Beer. These people will also do any Job but not a job which consists of long hours. I also found that it should be shown on Channel 4 as they like their Documentary's. Both Ollie and Aaron said that above the age of 18 is who i should be aiming my production at as these are the people that are legally allowed to drink beer so therefore it will appeal to them more than anyone else. They then said that the people who will want to watch it will be from the age of 30 and above as these are the age of people that have an interest in beer, i think that this is a fair response as i know from working at the brewery that the most common drinkers are older than 30. when i asked them which gender they think it reaches out to they both said "definitely males", they said the reason behind this is because beer appeals a lot more to men than it does women, this can lead me to conclude that my general gender target audience will be Male. when speaking on the topic o social group they said that all social groups like to drink beer and therefore it can be any social group, i also agree with this and will not limit my production to be available for only a specific social group. They both hesitated a little bit when i said what type of job would a person wanting to watch this have but eventually they came to a conclusion that it would be an office job and not a job which consists of long hours as they wouldn't have the time of day to watch it. when asked the question on where it should be shown they said channel 4 because there are documentaries similar to mine on there, i did not agree with this statement as i have never heard of a beer documentary on channel 4 before but i would say it is an appropriate place to show it. In conclusion from this focus group i felt that it helped me out a little bit but i think that my responses could have been a bit better as they were more agreeing with each other than giving detailed opinions themselves, i did feel like some of the responses did help though and will use some of the information along with my online research to gain a good understanding of who is going to watch my documentary. i know that from what i have found out so far i can live up to the expectations and needs of my target audience by including interesting interviews and shots within a micro brewery that alot of people would have never seen before, i think this will help me gain audience figures from the right crowd.
