Multiple points of view.
Multiple points of view is saying the different views of the person on the screen. there are many types of these shots, for example the over the shoulder shot would be a multiple point of view because in a conversation your seeing two peoples views when talking. Another would be the Point of View shot, this type of shot is when the camera is acting as a person a perfect example of this is if a family sit down for dinner and they are having a conversation and they all turn to look at the camera the camera would be acting as the subject. This Scene here from Magnolia shows multiple points of view. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I_rQX2wwHcs.
Creating Pace.
Creating pace is a key part of film editing, it is all about the music it plays a key part in the pace. Slow music would be relevant to a romance film whereas fast up beat music would be relevant to an action movie.
Cuts.
A cut is used to have a break in a movie it is a type of transition and is a primary transition along with Dissolve and Wipe. Cuts have been used since the first piece of film editing to keep the focus on the subject and keeping the attention on the subject.

Breathless-Jump cut
This film 'Breathless' was directed by Jean-Luc Godard
Jean-Luc's use of Jump cuts was unusual because in the making of the film they were not intentional but when editing the film he decided to use them as they were seen as innovative.
To hide a jump cut you would use a B-Roll which is the alternative footage inter cut between the main shot.

Match cuts.
A Match cut is two different scenes in which objects graphically match to merge a scene metaphorically and to prevent jump cuts.
The Art of Dissolve is the best match cut as the avalanche most resembles the girls white hair and dissolves right into the next scene.
